Murielle Pitre 

Murielle Pitre is the co-founder and Communications Chair of the New Brunswick Coalition of Persons With Disabilities (NBCPD). Living with both spina bifida and scoliosis, Murielle uses a motorized chair—affectionately regarded by her loyal cat, Rusty, as his personal limo. After a successful career with a major international corporation, Murielle had to take early retirement as chronic pain increasingly impacted her daily life. Returning home, she witnessed firsthand how many people with disabilities were falling through the cracks of existing systems. Determined to make a difference, she helped establish the NBCPD in 2020.

 

The Coalition was founded BY Persons With Disabilities, FOR Persons With Disabilities, and today provides a strong, united voice for the thousands of New Brunswickers living with both visible and invisible disabilities. Through her leadership and communications expertise, Murielle continues to champion accessibility, inclusion, and empowerment across the province.

Murielle Pitre est cofondatrice et présidente des communications de la Coalition des personnes handicapées du Nouveau-Brunswick (NBCPD). Présentant un spina bifida et une scoliose, Murielle utilise un fauteuil motorisé que son fidèle chat, Rusty, considère comme sa limousine personnelle. Après avoir mené une carrière fructueuse dans une grande société internationale, Murielle a dû prendre une retraite anticipée en raison de douleurs chroniques croissantes qui ont des conséquences sur son quotidien. À son retour à la maison, elle a été directement témoin du nombre de personnes en situation de handicap qui passent entre les mailles du filet des systèmes existants. Déterminée à changer les choses, elle a contribué à l’établissement de la NBCPD en 2020.

Fondée PAR des personnes en situation de handicap POUR les personnes en situation de handicap, la coalition offre aujourd’hui une voix forte et unifiée pour les milliers de Néo-Brunswickois qui vivent avec des handicaps visibles et invisibles. Grâce à son leadership et à son expertise en communications, Murielle continue de défendre l’accessibilité, l’inclusion et l’autonomisation dans l’ensemble de la province.
