Lina Gharbiya 

Lina Gharbiya is the Settlement Manager at the Saint John Newcomer Centre, holding a degree from the UNB-SJ. As a Palestinian Canadian who immigrated with her family in the 90s, Lina brings a wealth of personal experience and cultural understanding to her work. She has been instrumental in devising innovative programs tailored to the specific needs of newcomers, facilitating their integration into Canada and Saint John. She is a powerful advocate for systemic change and social justice, amplifying diverse voices and addressing issues related to racism and discrimination through different programs and projects.

Her contributions have been recognized with the Lady of Community Award at the Ladies of Influence Awards. Additionally, she became a certified Cultural Competency Trainer from the New Brunswick Multicultural Council.

Diplômé de l’UNBSJ, Lina Gharbiya est chef d’équipe d’établissement au Centre des nouveaux arrivants de Saint John. À titre de Canadienne d’origine palestinienne ayant immigré au pays avec sa famille dans les années 1990, Lina apporte énormément d’expérience personnelle et de compréhension culturelle dans son travail. Elle a joué un rôle essentiel dans la conception de programmes novateurs axés sur les besoins particuliers des nouveaux arrivants, facilitant leur intégration au Canada et à Saint John. Elle est une militante engagée en faveur des changements systémiques et de la justice sociale, de l’amplification de voix diversifiées et de la résolution des enjeux liés au racisme et à la discrimination à l’aide de différents programmes et projets.

À l’occasion de la cérémonie Ladies of Influence Awards, le prix Lady of Community Award lui a été décerné pour reconnaître ses contributions. En outre, elle est devenue formatrice certifiée en compétences culturelles pour le Conseil multiculturel du Nouveau-Brunswick.
