Heather Shearer

Heather Shearer, DC, MSc, PhD, FCCS(C), is a clinical epidemiologist and chiropractor, Director of the Department of Clinical and Health Services Research at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC). Dr. Shearer is an Associate Professor at CMCC, an Adjunct Professor at Ontario Tech University, and a Scientist at the Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research, a joint research institute with CMCC and Ontario Tech University. She works at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, conducting paediatric disability and rehabilitation research. Heather is the mother of twin teenage boys with cerebral palsy. The birth of her children, their subsequent diagnoses, and her role as advocate (alongside her husband) for their health, well-being and education fuels her passion for disability, neurodevelopmental, and neuromotor disorder research.

Heather Shearer, D.C., M. Sc., Ph. Mme Shearer est professeure agrégée au CMCC, professeure associée à l’Institut universitaire de technologie de l’Ontario et scientifique à l’Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research, un institut de recherche du CMCC et de l’Institut universitaire de technologie de l’Ontario. Elle travaille au Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, où elle mène des recherches sur les handicaps et la réadaptation chez les enfants. Heather est la mère de deux jumeaux atteints de paralysie cérébrale. La naissance de ses enfants, leur diagnostic subséquent et son rôle de militante (aux côtés de son mari) pour leur santé, leur bien-être et leur éducation alimente sa passion pour la recherche sur les handicaps, le neurodéveloppement et les troubles neuromoteurs.
