Disability Without Poverty has community organizers in these provinces/regions.
People with disabilities in BC face poverty at twice the rate of the general population and have fewer means of overcoming it. Disability Without Poverty BC is funded through a grant from the Vancouver Foundation to Disability Alliance BC with additional resources committed by partner organizations in the province.

Hello, my name is Elisa. I have just started volunteering, working with Disability Without Poverty initiative that is trying to get the situation that allows people like me and others with disabilities to have a living wage and to reach their full potential.
Living with a disability can teach you a lot of things; how to adapt where others may see an obstacle, knowing that you might have to navigate a path that looks different than anyone else, and that’s OK. However, there can be struggles that are a little more difficult to discuss, for example, when you consider the idea of disability and poverty.
My name is Andrea van Vugt and I’m a Community Organizer for Disability Without Poverty in Alberta. When I think about the work that I’m doing as a community organizer, these are the words that come to mind.
